The following are the children of Peter and Margaret as they each appear for the first time in census records. Thomas was born in Claiborne County; John, James Clinton, Jacob and Enoch/Eneas were born in either Claiborne or Campbell County; and Robert, Elizabeth, William, Peter and Alice were born in Campbell County:

1840 Thomas 1 male -5

1850: John 9, James 7, Christon R. (Clinton R.) 5, Jacob 3, Enoch 1

1860: Eneas 10, Robert L. 8, Elisabeth 6, William 4, Peter 3

1870: Alace 5

Thus, the names of their eleven children were Thomas, John, James, Clinton, Jacob, Enoch/Eneas, Robert, Elizabeth, William, Peter and Alice.

In addition to their children whose memorials have been linked below, we do not know the burial locations for the following children:

1st Child: Thomas was the first born of Peter and Margaret Pierce. From his military file we learn that he was born in 1838. He followed Peter into service with Union forces in the War of the Rebellion. At the age of 23 Thomas enlisted in 1st Tennessee Infantry, Company B. He mustered in as a private and out as a corporal. Although Thomas survived the war, he was in and out of the hospital during service and was offered an early discharge due to his disability, which he refused. Thomas died on January 20, 1885, leaving a widow, Emaline, and their children, Peter born 1860 and Sarah born 1862.

3rd Child: James was the third son, born about 1843. He was 18 years old and single when he enlisted with his father and brothers in 1st Tennessee Infantry, Company B. His military file indicates he mustered out with his regiment. He was not in the 1870 Campbell County census.

6th Child: I believe Enoch/Eneas to be the same person born about 1849. He was not in the 1870 Campbell County census.

8th Child: Elizabeth was born about 1854. She married James Franklin Crutchfield on November 15, 1877 in Campbell County. This was a second marriage for James as he had married Mary Ann Lawson on August 2, 1871. Elizabeth and James had five children:

Robert b. 1880. WWI registration of Bob Crutchfield of Campbell County born October 5, 1880. Parents Jim Crutchfield. Dated 9/12/1918;

Annie b. about 1882;

Amis Gipson b. 1886, Memorial 8751055;

Hiram 1889, Memorial 8153481;

Martha Alice 1891, Memorial 94143527.

The last census Elizabeth was enumerated in was 1880 in Campbell County. J.F. Scritchfield married Mary Jane Weaver in Union County in 1897. The 1900 census indicates that they had been married three years. Elizabeth must have died sometime between the birth of Martha in 1891 and marriage of James in 1897.

9th Child: William born about 1857. He was not in the 1880 Campbell County census.

10th Child: Peter born about 1857. He was enumerated in the 1880 census of Jewell County, Kansas with a wife, Emily, and a son, William. In 1885 they were living in Anderson County, Kansas. Emily was without Peter in the 1895 Morris County, Kansas census. Their last child was born in 1891. By the time of the 1900 census Emily was married to John Warsham and they were living in Holt County, Missouri. Census indicates they had been married two years. Between the two of them they had 14 children. Emily was widowed again by the time of the 1910 census of Oklahoma County, Oklahoma and was still living in Oklahoma in 1920 at the age of 67. Peter and Emily had six children: William, Emma James, Sina, Sylvia and Bessie.

Martha had 27 childbearing years: she was 21 when she had Thomas and 48 when she had Alice.
