Kathern "Kay" Smith, 66, of Bushnell, died at her home in Bushnell on Thursday, March 25, 2010. Memorial service was held on Monday, March 29, 2010 at the Bushnell Fire Hall with Alan Heim officiating.

Kathern Rose Smith was born in Sebring, Ohio on May 4, 1943, the daughter of Walter and Nana (Grimes) Pruett. She was raised and attended school in Mount Pleasant, Arkansas and graduated in 1961. Kay was married to Roger Smith in Melbourne, Arkansas in June of 1962. While in Arkansas she worked for Banquet Foods. The family lived in Arkansas, Washington and Nebraska before settling in Kimball in 1979. She worked at the Brass Lantern Café and also the State Line Café. Kay loved cooking, crocheting and needlepoint. She also made dolls and doll clothing. She will be missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her sons Eugene (Georgia) Smith of Pine Bluffs, WY., Daryl Smith of Hastings, NE., and Charles and Leonard Smith both of Kimball; brother Dale "Arkie" (Joan) Pruett of Kimball, NE; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons Allen Ray and Roger Dale, sisters Ann Jackson and Karen Wonken.
