GLENN LEROY ANKNEY, SR.
Lansing, MI (formerly of Mesick)
Age 80, died April 4, 2010; born August 8, 1929 in Wheatfield Township, MI to Harley B. and Ethel Grace (Phelps) Ankney, Sr. A WWII veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Ankney was a member of the American Legion Browne-Cavender Post #148, Mason; I.A.M. Union & Aerospace Workers Local #1163 and various other unions. He spent 20 years working in the missile industry. Glenn was "Ferndock" on the Alley Cat Show on WJIM.
Preceded in death by his parents; 4 sisters; 2 brothers; and one sister-in-law. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Margurite; 3 daughters, Cheryl (Mark) Gippert, Cinda Lou (Conrad) Smith; Connie Lynn (Larry) Owens, all of Lansing; 3 sons, Glenn L. Jr. (Shelia) of Tuscon, AZ; Timothy E. ("Jo" Anna) and Thomas B., both of Lansing; 20 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; brother, Harley B. Ankney, Jr.; many nieces and nephews as well as great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held 12:00 PM Thursday, April 8, 2010 at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes. Interment immediately following in Maple Ridge Cemetery, Holt, MI with graveside military honors provided by the American Legion Browne-Cavender Post #148. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8:00 PM.
