Margery "Marjorie" Frances Kompar, 85, of Tanglewood Lane, Mishawaka, formerly of North Hawthorne Drive, South Bend, died Sunday morning, Dec. 11, in Holy Cross Care & Rehabilitation. She was born May 6, 1920, in Goodland, Indiana (Jasper County), to Paul and Virginia Homan. On June 27, 1942, in South Bend, Indiana, she married Stephen E. Kompar, who preceded her in death on July 16, 2003.

Marjorie graduated from Central High School in 1939 and attended Indiana University for two years. She was past president of the Republican Women's Association, past president of the Service Guild, past president and Club Champion of the 18-hole lady golfers at the Morris Park Country Club. She enjoyed three hole-in-ones and more than 40 years at the club. She played duplicate bridge at the Bridge Center in Mishawaka. She served as director and manager of Monday South Bend Bridge Club for the Valley Bridge Association. She was a member of A.S.B.L, a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority at Indiana University, an alumni chapter member of South Bend/Mishawaka Chapter, and was a member of the Second Wind Group.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen Steinbauer from McKinney, TX; and a son, Bob Kompar from Covington, GA; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Kompar from Dayton, OH, widow of Morgan "Mike" Kompar; granddaughter, Jennifer Saari from Osceola, IN; grandsons, Eric Markle from Granger, IN, and David Bogaert from Oak Park, IL. Marjorie has eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
