MRS. SARAH WHITMORE DIES AT AGE OF 83
Native of Pennsylvania and Lived For 60 Years in Crawford County--Dies in Dunkard Home
Mrs. Sarah Whitmore, eighty-three years old and for a number of years a resident of Findlay, died Sunday morning at the German Baptist home in Fostoria. She was in failing health owning to infirmities but her death was hastened by an attack of apoplexy, sustained several days ago. The body of Mrs. Whitmore was brought to Findlay and was taken to the home of her daughter, Mrs. John C. Miller, of 400 College street.
Mrs. Whitmore was born in Pennsylvania and came to Ohio with her parents when a young girl. Her parents settled in Crawford county and were among the first pioneers of that section. Her husband, to whom she was married in Crawford county, died a year ago.
Mrs Whitmore came to Findlay ten years ago. She lived here five years, when she went to the German Baptist Home, of Fostoria, where she lived since that time. Throughout her life, Mrs. Whitmore was a member of the German Baptist church, more familiarly known as the Dunkard church. During the younger years of her life, she was active in her endeavor in the interests of the church.
For many years, Mrs. Whitmore lived at Leesville, Ohio, where her husband operated a grist mill. Later he operated a saw mill west of Bucyrus, for thirty years.
Surviving are four children, Mrs. George Kerstetter and Mrs. Jacob Brown, of Crawford county; Mrs. J. C. Miller, of Findlay, and Daniel Whitmore, of Cambridge, Ohio. The funeral will be held from the Miller home, Tuesday morning at 9:30 o'clock, Rev Dickey, of the Dunkard church of Fostoria, officiating. Interment will be in Maple Grove cemetery.
