David Harry Candland
Chester-David Harry Candland, 74, died at his home here early Tuesday from stomach trouble.
He was born July 9, 1858, in Salt Lake, but had been a resident of North Sanpete county 50 years. During his earlier life he worked for the railroad, having spent ten years as station agent at Moroni. Later years he had spent farming at Chester.
Mr. Candland had been actively engaged in L. D. S. church work for several years, being the clerk of the Chester ward.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Phobe Maiben Candland, and the following sons and daughters: Mrs. L. L. Cloward and Leland D. Candland, Salt Lake; H. Maiben and Kenneth Candland, Chester, and Mrs. W. C. Callister, Grantsville; 20 grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: P. H., W. D. and Alex Candland, Mrs. Minnie Warner and Mrs. Abbie Edmunds and Mrs. Fannie Miles, Salt Lake: Arthur, Theodore and Leo Candland, Mrs. Amelia Jensen, Mrs. Jessie Christensen and Mrs. Grace Jacobsen, Mt. Pleasant; Fred Candland, Chester; Frank Candland, Los Angeles, Cal.; Walter Candland, Carey, Idaho, and Mrs. Ellen Jones, Ogden.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Chester L. D. S. chapel Thursday at 2 p. m. Interment will be in Chester City cemetery, under the direction of the Deseret mortuary.
