Stephen "Steve" L. Goodwin 92, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2006, in Fort Collins CO.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, July 6, 2006 at Allnutt Riverside Chapel, 1530 Riverside Ave., Fort Collins CO. The Rev. Michael Stradmueller will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, July 5, at Riverside Chapel. A private family interment will be held in Grandview Cemetery.

Steve was born on May 29, 1914, in Fort Collins CO., the son of Dr. Albert E. and Florence E. (Bennett) Goodwin.

In 1914, the family moved to the Goodwin ranch on the Boxelder, Northwest of Fort Collins. He attended grade school in Districe 55 and graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1931 and from Colorado A & M (now CSU) in 1935.

On July 10, 1938, he married Florence Rieke of Sterling in Denver CO. At the time of his marriage, he was living in Leadville CO., constructing a dairy. Later he was employed by the United States Department of Agriculture as a county supervisor in Kit Carson County. During World War II, he served in the Pacific Theater with the Seabees.

Upon his return, he resided in Colorado, farming, and ranching, moving to a farm in the Wellington area in 1950. He has been active in the community, having served on the board of Poudre Valey R.E.A., North Poudre Irrigation Company, Fort Collins Soil Conservation District, Tri-State G&T, and Mid-West Electric Consumers Association.

He was awarded "Weed Fighter" of 1964 by the Kiwanis and Master Agriculturalist of 1966 by the Fort Collins Rotary Club. He was a member of the Denver Consistory, Masonic Lodge No.19, Elks Lodge No.804, and the First Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Florence; six nieces and five nephews.
