Judge Lastinger Buried in Adel. Was Cook County's Last Confederate and Widely Known as Lawyer

Adel, Ga., Dec. 7 (AP)-Citizens from many sections of South Georgia attended funeral services yesterday for Judge L. E. Lastinger, 93, Cook County's last Confederate veteran, and prominent lawyer.

Services were at Salem Primitive Baptist church here. Elders Duncan McCranie and J. B. Luke officiated.Born in Berrien County, Lastinger lived here for 35 years.

He formerly had served as solicitor and judge of Berrien county court, and wrote a history of Berrien County's participation in the War Between the States.

Active pallbearers were grandsons of Lastinger, honorary pallbearers were H. W. Nelson, J. K. Sinclair, J. C. Thomas, J. M. Sutton, and W. T. Chytle of Adel; Judge W. E. Thomas and E. K. Wilcox of Valdosta, and Judge W. R. Smith of Nashville.
