Melissa Faye Morris, 91, died April 5, 2001, at Lake District Hospital in Lakeview after a brief illness.

Mrs. Morris was born Aug. 21,1909, in Clover Flat to Thomas and Laura (Roush) Mulkey. She attended school in Valley Falls, Lakeview, and at Sacred Heart Academy in Klamath Falls. She married James Morris on July 29, 1927. They built and operated the Hart Mountain Store in Plush from 1936 to 1946, then continued living in Plush until moving to Lakeview because of health-related issues. Mrs. Morris and her husband enjoyed the desert, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Bert Rogers of Lakeview; daughter-in-law, Betty Lou Morris of Lakeview; sisters-in-law, Leota Mulkey of Eugene and Ruby Strand of Ashland; grandchildren, Judy Demant of Oyster Bay, N.Y., Carrie Cummins of Salem, Nancy Thompson of New Pine Creek, Marian Caswell, Jerry Morris and Kathie Leehmann of Lakeview, Connie Start of Plush, Dennis Morris of Hamburg, N.Y., Debbie Luedki of Onalaska, Wis., and Mary Sue Oakley of Eagle Point; 23 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Morris; sons, Billy Ray Morris and Dallas "Buzz" Morris; brother, Jack Mulkey; sister, Beulah Ekenberg; stepbrother, Ray Hotchkiss; stepsister, Mae McCoy; grandson, Jimmy Morris; and stepfather, Bill Hotchkiss.
