Novelist Rosborough dies at 101

Services for novelist and magazine writer Mary Freels Rosborough, 101, will be held graveside at 3 p.m. tomorrow in Evergreen Cemetery.

Mrs. Rosborough died yesterday at All Saints Catholic Nursing Home in Jacksonville.

Mrs. Rosborough was born in St. Louis and met her late husband George L. "Fritz" Rosborough Sr. in Jacksonville, where she lived since 1919. The Rosboroughs lived in Atlantic Beach for years, and Mrs. Rosborough served as a plane spotter during World War II. Her husband served as mayor of Atlantic Beach for several terms. The couple had lived in Riverside since the 1950s.

Mrs. Rosborough had more than 40 articles published in magazines such as The Saturday Evening Post, Collier's and Ladies Home Journal. Her two novels, A Clear Place in the Sky and Don't You Cry for Me, received rave reviews in the New York Times Book Review.

Mrs. Rosborough is survived by two sons, George Rosborough Jr., and Robert Rosborough; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
