Betty Saunders Gilbert, 73, of Roanoke, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 5, 2010.
She was a graduate of Jefferson High School. She was a member of Shenandoah Baptist Church and was retired from Norfolk Southern with 39 years of service.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Farris and Ruth Saunders; and brother, Jack L. Saunders.
She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Leon Gilbert; son, Mark S. Gilbert; sisters, Susan Caywood and Jerry Davis; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 8, 2010, at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Robert L. Alderman officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at Oakey's North Chapel.
