James Burton Askey … was a volunteer in the Spanish-American War from Private to Corporal. Was in hospital at Charleston, S.C. from July 15th to September 9th, 1898, with typhoid fever which permanently injured his health. He was mustered out of Army with his regiment at Franklin, Pa. on December 29, 1898
