Obituary- W.L. Gormally, 69, Dies, Was Retired Police Captain
William L. Gormally, 69, retired police captain and a widely-known Ft Dodge resident, died suddently Thurs afternoon (June 3) following a heart attack. Mr. Gormally was sticken about 4 pm, just as he started to cross the street at the corner of 9th and Central. Funeral services will be held Monday 8:30 am at Laufersweiler funeral home and 9 at Corpus Christi church. Burial will be in Corpus Christi cemetary. Mr. Gormally, who had been a resident of Ft. Dodge since 1919, was born in Carroll county Feb 10, 1885. On completing studies at the normal school, he taught in rural schools of Carroll and Calhoun counties. He was married to Jospehine Kelly at St, Joseph's church in Duncombe on April 16, 1913. Surviving besides his wife are 4 children, Eleanor Crane, Lenore Mungo, Alice LaRocca and J.W. Gormally and the following brothers and sisters:Joseph Gormally, Woonsocket SD, John Gormally, Sulkum, Wa, Mrs PJ Warnemunde of LaCenter, MN, Mrs. Frank Cundill, Isabel, SD, Mrs. Frank Holinka of Windom, Mn and Mrs. Nick Schere of Timberlake, MN. He was preceded by his parents, Mr/Mrs Patrick Gormally and a sister, Ann, who died in childhood. He had been with the police department 26 years when he retired in April of 1947.
