Mr. Jonathan David "Johnny'' Black, 62 of South Hill, died Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at his residence. He was a retired central office technician for what is now CenturyLink Telephone Company.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carolyn Moody Black; two daughters, Beth Thompson and her son Dylan Wayne, Melissa Conner and husband Scott and their sons, Logan Scott and Caleb Boston, all of South Hill; and sister, Joan Fodera of Booth Bay Harbor, Maine. He was predeceased by his parents Ralph Black and Flora Black Mull and brother Randall Black.

A funeral service was conducted Saturday at Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory with interment in Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery near Chase City. The family received friends at the funeral home prior to the service and at the residence at all other times.
