OBITUARY - 'the paper' of Wabash County (IN) - April 7, 2010

Junior Maxwell "Scrappy" Forbes, 85, rural Wabash, died April 1, 3:10 p.m. at Rolling Meadows Healthcare, LaFontaine.

He was born June 1, 1924 in Wabash, to Henry M. and Myrtle M. "Marie" (Bloxson) Forbes Nelson. He married Doris B. Carpenter at Silver Creek Church in Wabash County on June 1, 1947.

Mr. Forbes had worked for Wagner Industries as a maintenance foreman until his retirement in 1986. He also had been a contractor for the family business, Macey-Forbes and Sons. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a life member of the VFW Post 286 in Wabash, and a former member of the Izaak Walton League.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Forbes, Wabash; four children, Wayne A. Forbes, Jefferson, Texas; Thomas J. Forbes, Yoder; Eileen K. (Roger)Biehl and Brenda "Bea" (Joseph) Oswalt, both of Wabash; nine grandchildren, Time Forbes, Andrew (Amy) Oswalt and Jada Biehl, all of Wabash; Scot (Kim Jagger, Huntington; Jennifer Becker, Fort Wayne; Amanda (Jason) Randel, Roann; David (Heidi) Forbes, Fort Wayne, Lief Cox, Warsaw; and Harley Forbes, Texas; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; 11 nieces and six nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Roger Forbes, and his granddaughter, Kelly Brainard.

Funeral services will be held April 7, 2 p.m. at Grandstaff-Hentgent Funeral Service, 1251 Manchester Ave., Wabash with Pastor Rick Stone officiating. Friends may call April 6, 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery. Prefered memorials are to Wabash-Miami Home Healthcare and Hospice or VFW National Home for Children.
