Master Sgt. Arthur H. Turner was a popular member of the 77th Pursuit Squadron at Barksdale Field in Bossier Parish, La., and was one of the original senior enlisted personnel at the post when it opened in February 1933. A member of the Army 20 years, he had been reassigned to Langley Field, Va., and was en route to his new assignment when he died. The original pool at Barksdale Field was named in his memory. The pool has since been demolished and Sgt. Turner's name put on "reserve status," though there are no plans at this time to dedicate a street or facility there in his memory.
