AGED WOMAN DIES IN TOWN
Mrs. Susanna Hartranft, nee Fisher, aged nearly 96 years, probably the oldest resident of town and vicinity, died in the residence of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Sigenfuse, 139 Mahanoy street at 6:30 o'clock this morning, following a bedfast ill-ness since last May, due to her advanced age.

The aged lady was probably one of the best known women of the community, and devoted her whole life to the church of her choice, the Lutheran. It is authotatively related of her that when the Hartranft family resided on the Weldy farm on Mintzer's Tunnel Hill that she and the rest of the family attended services in the White church, over three miles away, rain or sunshine every Sunday when there was a service. When the family later moved to the little tunnel village north of town, she took up membership in Zion Evangelical Lutheran church here, to which she stead-fastly adhered, the aged lady never missing a service, while she resided on Schuylkill avenue for a long period of years.

Bible Class Member
She would as regularly attend her Sunday school Bible class sessions and when her teacher, Mrs. George Kolb, West Broad street, conducted the "Family Album" entertainment a year ago, Mrs. Hartranft posed as the "first photo" and was overjoyed at the privilege and honors extended her.

Her husband, the late Henry Hartranft, died about twenty-two years ago. She is survived by four daughters, who are: Mrs. William Sigenfuse, Greenwood street; Mrs. Sallie Southam, Lehigh Street; Mrs. Nelson Sigenfuse, Mahanoy street, all of town; and Mrs. John Kirby (Clara Corby) of Saint Clair. Twenty-four grand-children, thirty-eight great grand-children and two great, great grand-children also survive.
