Elder Joseph C. Biggs was born April 16, 1829, in Fauquier Co, Va., and died at the home of his son, Levi M. Biggs Feb. 16, 1912, age 82 years and 10 mo.

In 1834 he came with his mother to Alexander, Licking Co, Ohio. He was married to Lavina Calvert Aug. 12, 1848. To this union were born three children: William H. of Willow Hill, John G. of Palestine and Levi M. of Oblong. He and his wife joined the Primitive or Old School Baptist Church in Oct. 1865. He was loyal and devoted to the cause of his Master until he was called to his great reward.

"All the days of his appointed time he waited until his change came. He has come to his grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in his season." His wife preceded him in death, May 30, 1877. He was married to Mary Jones, Jan. 1, 1878. She died July 30, 1906.

He took a severe chill about noon Wednesday and passed peacefully and quietly away at about 7 o'clock Friday evening. He leaves to mourn their loss 3 sons and their wives, 27 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, beside a host of other relatives and friends.

He was a good father, an obliging neighbor, kind and pleasant to all and greatly respected by those who knew him.
