Emma Murphy married J.D. Roberts on 21 November 1897 at Leake County, Mississippi. The couple moved to Texas in 1913, settling in the Wilbarger County in the Fargo Community. In 1943, they moved to Graham. Her husband preceded her in death.
Services for Mrs. J.D. Roberts, 83, were held at First Baptist Church. She died at her home on Second Street. She was born in Missouri and educated in the Carthage, Mississippi schools. Mrs. Roberts served as postmistress at Hopoca, Mississippi. Mrs. Roberts joined the Primitive Baptist Church at Jackson Springs in 1917, and her present membership was in at Medlan Chapel.
Survived by four sons - B.D. Roberts, J.M. Roberts, F.N. Roberts, E.R. Roberts; three daughters - Mrs. J.M. Smith, Mrs. W.A. Brock, Mrs. A.J. Holland; 23 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two sisters - Belle Wagner and Ruth Presley; two brothers - Dan Murphy and Matthew Murphy.
