Although there is still a very slight possibility that Isaac came from the Sheldon's of Bakewell, Derby, we have since learned through extensive DNA testing of various Sheldon descendants that this is very unlikely. Direct male descendants of Isaac have been a perfect y-chrome match to direct male descendants of John Sheldon of South Kingston. They were likely brothers or cousins of some sort. The direct male line descendants of John Sheldon of Providence have been a perfect match to the descendants of Godfrey, Maine. They both have also been a match the descendants the Sheldon's of Bakewell that are still in England. We also have a solid paper trail for Godfrey connecting him to the Bakewell line. There is still a slight possibility that Isaac and John of South Kingston also came from Bakewell - but it is currently theorized that they were actually descended to the Sheldon's of Beoley and Birmingham - which have no known connection to the Derby Sheldon's. There was also another old Sheldon family in Wiltshire. The Sheldon's of Durham, England have testing as a match to the Bakewell Sheldon's.
