Harry served as a First Lieutenant & Navigator on B-24H "Piecemaker" (#42-52368), 765th Bomber Squadron, 461st Bombardment Group, 15th Air Force, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

Harry was "Killed In Action" when his B-24 was shot down by German Fighters over Linz, Austria during the war. Out of the crew of 10, 7 were Killed In Action and 3 became POW's.

He had served in the Air Force for one year and eight months at the time of his death.

He was decorated with the Air Medal with 9 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Purple Heart, and one Distinguished Unit Badge.

Son of Rabbi Philip First and Sarah Gurevitz First who resided at 412 North Franklin Street, Wilmington, Delaware.
