Mrs. Richard Meier, 72, of Rt. 4, Chilton (Charlesburg) died at Calumet Memorial hospital, Chilton. She had been a patient for about a week and a half and had been sick for approximately three weeks. Funeral services will be at Pfeffer Funeral Home in Chilton and at St. Charles Catholic Church, Charlesburg. The Rev. Francis Melchoirs will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery.
The former Mary Steiner was born Oct. 31, 1890, in the town of Brothertown, daughter of the lat Mr. and Mrs. John Steiner. She was married to Richard Meier Sept. 24, 1912 at St. Charles Church and the couple celebrated its golden wedding anniversary last September. She was a member of the Christian Mothers Society of the church and the Charlesburg branch of the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin.
Survivors include the husband; seven sons, Zeno and Clarence of West Allis, Gilbert of New Holstein, Severin of Fond du Lac, Orville of Malone, Wis., and Alvin and Patrick of Chilton; five daughters, Mrs. Hugo Stemper of New Holstein, Mrs. Anthony Hoerth and Mrs. Leonard Heimerman of Marytown, Mrs. Joseph Wettstein of Chilton and Mrs. Harvey Meyer of Charlesburg; two brothers, Joseph and Edwin Steiner of Charlesburg; two sisters, Mrs. Albert Freund of New Holstein and Mrs. Veronica Keuler of Chilton; 54 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
