Lewis G. Eby Sr., 76, of 479 Church St., died at 12:50 p.m. Sunday in Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness.
He had retired from the Mead Corp. in 1964 with 35 years of service.
He was a member of the High Street Church of Christ in Christian Union where his funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Richard Vaughn will officiate and burial will follow in Brown's Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call at the Ware Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Tuesday and at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Born Aug. 30, 1901, in Circleville, he was the son of Calvin L. and Bertha Hoover Eby. On Oct. 27, 1924, he was married to the former Nellie Payne who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Carl (Marie) Drake Sr., 459 Allen Ave., and Lois Ann Eby, Cuyahoga Falls; two sons, Calvin L. Eby, Fort Worth, Texas, and Lewis G. Eby Jr., at home; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Chester (Ruth) Murphy, Stoutsville, and Mrs. Ernest (Lillian) Sonners, Springfield; and four brothers, Kenneth Eby, Wellston, Harold Eby, Stoutsville, Leonard Eby, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Carl Eby, Great Falls, Mont.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Donna Bell Eby, a great-grandson, four sisters and two brothers.
Mr. Eby was a member of the United Paper Workers International Union AFL, CIO, CLC, Local 731 and the Southern Ohio Beagle Club.
Memorial tributes may be made to the Ross County Unit of the American Cancer Society, 311 W. Water St.
