EJ Edwards dies at his home today.
Edgar J. Edwards, 79, dies at his home in Country Club Acres at 8:00 this morning.
He was the son of John Wesley Edwards and Eliza Jane Slater Edwards and was born on 1 January 1871 near Rochester, Iowa. In 1912 he was married to Bertha Burnham of Newton.
For more than 30 years Mr. Edwards was engaged in the farming business in the Mount Zion neighborhood and did carpenter work in Ames, Des Moines and Newton. After his retirement, he moved to Newton.
Survivors include three daughters: Mrs. William Prideaux, Racine, Wisconsin, Mrs. Earl Henningson, Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Chester Longridge, Des Moines and one son, Wilbur Edwards, of Newton. Another daughter, Beulah, died at birth. Other survivors include several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at three o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Full Gospel Church with Rev. Bowers officiating. Burial will be at Mount Zion Cemetery under the direction of the Tolland Funeral Home.
