Son of James William and Sue Ann Gardner Cunningham Jr.

The Lord blessed our lives with the birth of Christian in the evening of September 19, 2001 at a whopping weight of 7 pounds 15 ounces and standing 21 ¼ inches. We still don't know if the Lord gave the proud parents a boy to ease their fear of "Pappy's" retribution if they didn't present him with a grandson forthwith or if they had secretly prayed for one themselves. We do know that they were presented with a most loving, compassionate and handsome son. He was dedicated to the Lord during evening worship on March 31, 2002. Everyone who knew him because of his tender heart and soul endeared Christian. He was Maw-Maw's "baby," Mommy's "Little Monkey," Daddy's "Little Man," Pappy's "Nugget," Uncle David's "Varmint," and he always had "Ham" for YiaYia to munch on. Gifted with the family trait of hard headedness, he could also tax Mom and Dad to no end if he set his mind to it. A proud, loving and devoted brother to Zoe, he stood firmly in her defense and care even had he instigated the latest caper. With a great imagination, he flew through the hallways and rooms on his spider web to land in explicit Spiderman poses on sofas, columns, walls and lamp stands. Sometimes Buzz Lightyear came to the aid of distressed people by foul villains or Dash would strike a pose for an awed audience while in the middle of a rescue attempt. All too soon the four years of his earthly life passed before us. After a long fought battle with Chronic Granulomatous Disease, his heart could no longer endure and the Lord called him home at 5 minutes after midnight on Monday March the 6th. Deeply loved by all his family and friends his presence with us is immensely missed. His character can be accurately known by a recent event prior to his surgery. After many hospital events, he was always greatly distressed whenever doctors would come into the room. During this event while the doctor was putting on his gloves, which Christian linked with more pain, he told the doctor "Nice gloves Doctor". Christian has been a blessing to us in too many ways to describe and we deeply thank God from the bottom of our heart and soul for the time he blessed us with Christian. As Christian would say: "To infinity and beyond," and "It's alright, I am Okay!" (Eulogy presented by Rev. Dan Bradley, Faithview Baptist Church, Saucier, MS)
