Evelyne was born in Helena, AR to Baxter Halstead Wallace (13 Feb 1895 - 21 Aug 1958) and Lorena Grace Sanford (03 Aug 1896 - 21 Aug 1985). She lived in Memphis for most of her life. She attended Bellevue Jr. High and Humes High School. She painted and wrote poetry as a youth, and had some of her work published in the Memphis "Commercial Appeal."

Evelyne became a bookkeeper, starting her career with the old George T. Roy Jewelers in Memphis and retiring as bookkeeper for Memphis Funeral Home. At one time she served as Regional Manager of Sarah Coventry Jewelry Co. She also worked as a bookkeeper for the Finkleman family who traveled to various cities closing out jewelry stores. She traveled to Chicago and Cleveland, TN in this capacity.

Evelyne's name was really pronounced "Eva Lynn." but most people called her Evelyn or Eve. She married Richard Enloe Love, Jr. on November 23, 1941, right before the outbreak of WWII. She lived with him in Quantico, VA, New River, NC and also in Carlsbad, California before he was sent overseas. He served as a Marine on Iwo Jima and Okinawa.

Evelyne was a life-long Baptist. She was baptised by Dr. Robert G. Lee at Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis, then later began attending Temple Baptist. She returned to Bellevue later in life.

Evelyne and Richard had two children: Richard Enloe Love, III (23 Sep 1944 - 14 Dec 2008) and Carla Lee Love.
