COLUMBUS, GA — Agnes B. Yawn, 93, of Columbus died Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Columbus Hospice House. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Monday at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA with Dr. Kevin Calhoun officiating. Interment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will greet friends Sunday evening, April 4, 2010 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Active pallbearers will be members of the family. Mrs. Yawn was born April 21, 1916 in Gay, GA to the late Hardy and Arlillie Roberts Brand. She was a Homemaker and a member of Wynnbrook Baptist Church. She loved to read and work in her garden. Her presence will be missed daily, but her memory will live forever in our hearts. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Yawn was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Yawn, sisters, Margaret and Nettie, brothers, JW and Glen, and grandson, James Alvie Lewis. Survivors include two daughters, Sue Lewis and her husband, Alvie of Columbus, and Laurallii "Lolly" Smith and her husband, Jack of Myrtle Beach, SC; one son, James F. "Butch" Yawn and his wife, Laureen of Columbus; grandchildren, Carol Korzan and her husband, Buddy, Donald Edward Lewis, Chuck Ray and his wife, Debbie, Cisci Payne and her husband, Ricky, Fletcher Ray, Resi McKenzie and her husband, Shane, and Joseph Yawn and his wife, Hayley; fourteen great grandchildren; one great grandchild; one brother, Carlton Brand and his wife, Ida of Jacksonville, FL; and one sister, Trudy Mixon of Columbus.
