Leslie Jones Watts, 49, of Clarkton, NC, passed away peacefully on Friday, the 2nd of April, 2010, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born November 6, 1960, in Wilmington, NC, Leslie was the daughter of Claude B. Jones and the late Margaret F. Jones. She graduated from John T. Hoggard High School and went on to complete the RN program through Southeastern Community College. Leslie found her calling in nursing, and lived her life taking care of and nurturing others. Even in the midst of her battle with diabetes, she always had a loving smile and a helping hand for those around her. Leslie was a devoted mother and friend to Ginny.
In addition to her father, Claude B. Jones, Leslie is survived by her husband, Garvis (Gary) Watts, daughter, Virginia Lee (Ginny) Long, mothers-in-law Virginia Long and Betty Jo Walker, sisters Katherine Canaday and Sandra O'Donnell (Steve Saadeh), sister-in-law Falicia Colman, nieces Jamie Lynn Howell (Ben), Laikyn and Karsyn Colman, and great-nephews Cameron and Pierson Howell. Leslie also leaves behind a host of extended family members and close friends, not to mention her beloved little Chloë.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Danny Long.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm, Monday, April 5, 2010, at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown, NC.
The funeral will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home, followed by graveside services at Salem Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bennett Gibson, Jeff Guyton, David Wilson, Bradley Smith, Jimmy Baldwin, Steve Saadeh, Justin Dorsey, and Carry Strickland.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Columbus Transport staff for the loving care and compassion they showed to Leslie over the past years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Columbus Transport, PO Box 751, 2629 Joe Brown Highway, South Chadbourn, NC 28431.
