Donald MacArthur Barton was born an only child in southern Texas, a town called Flatonia. As a baby he moved with his parents to Ft Worth, TX, and then to Shreveport, LA. Sometime soon after, he became a child model for what appears to be up to his teens. Don attended Queensboro Elementary School while living some 6 to 8 blocks away at 2712 Stonewall St. Don went to Draughn Business School and went on to take State of Louisiana Championship for typing. Don also took a course in Interior Decorating. Don was quite business oriented. He later chose to go into sales (retail and wholesale), where he felt comfortable and was successful.

Don and Faye (wife) opened a showroom in the Dallas Trade Mart (wholesale only) in the early 1960's. It was called The Don Barton Company. Don still traveled while Faye worked in the showroom. They still owned the business at the time of Don's death. Upon his death, the entire Dallas Trade Mart closed the next day in respect. He was well admired for his honesty and professionalism in business by many.

Cause of death: Heart attack.
