He was the son of Pleasant Martin and Elizabeth Ennis. The known children of Sarah and Pleasant G., were Palina Julian Martin who married John Witherspoon of Allen Co, Ky, Joshua W. On 27 Jan 1860 Sarah married Isham Still (another Warren Co, Ky transplant to Lawrence Co, Mo.) On the night of June 20, 1865 Sarah's son-in-law John Witherspoon was shot and killed.(1800's term "bushwhacked".) His house and belongings were burned and Palina died some time shortly thereafter on route to, live with John's brother in Ill. Sarah Still raised two of John and Palina's children, Eliza Ann and George Washington Witherspoon. Some of the other children were raised by John's twin sister Nancy Witherspoon Cline. John and Nancy Witherspoon were born as a set of triplets but one did not survive but a few days. Isham died in 1870 and was buried by his first wife Mary Webb Still in the Webb Cemetery located in Miller, Lawrence Co., Missouri. Sarah died sometime after 1880 and is buried in the Shiloh Cemetery in Dade County, Missouri where her grandson George Washington Witherspoon is buried.
