Lula, 93, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday. She was born the daughter of the late William & Mina (Sherman) Middleton and was a lifelong area resident. Lula graduated from Mayville High School with the class of 1934. She was united in marriage with Lawrence V. Martin on May 8, 1957 in Ohio. He preceded her in death on December 15, 1984. Lula was employed as a cook at the Caro Regional Center Central Kitchen for twenty-three years, retiring in 1979. She enjoyed traveling with her family, reading, watching birds out her window, crocheting, knitting, and in her younger years, working in her flower garden.
Surviving are five children and their spouses, Mina & David Hale of Ann Arbor, Mary & Bruce Baird of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Carol & Bruce Sprague of Linden, Carl Martin of Caro, Larry & Kim Martin of Caro; sixteen grandchildren and their spouses, Jeff Jones and Steve Jones, both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Brenda & Mike Kirk of Caro, Bruce & Jodi Seddon, living in Kentucky, Brian Seddon of South Lyon, Aaron & Vi Sprague of Linden, Ben Sprague of Linden, Lisa & Allan Gaines of Milan, Grant Williams of Durand, Kelly & Joe Krenson and Terry & Kathy Titus, all living in California, Kyle Martin living in Florida, Alexandrea Martin, Kathryn Middaugh, Michelle & Jason Martin, Jerry Middaugh, all of Caro; many great and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Penland and her husband John of Mayville; one son-in-law, Robert Jones of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one daughter-in-law, Marjorie Seddon of Mayville; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Lula was preceded in death by three of her children, Patricia Jones, David Seddon and Sharon Seddon; one sister, Rosella Milner; and one brother, Carl Middleton.
