Some say Micah came to Texas as early as 1818, from Alabama. Mr. Andrews was a son of William and Mary Andrews, and four of his siblings eventually moved to Texas. He settled in Bastrop County and enlisted in the Texas Army on February 28, 1835. He was First Lieutenant of Captain Jesse Billingsley's Company and fought at the Battle of San Jacinto on April 21, 1836. In December of the same year he was appointed Captain of mounted riflemen in Bastrop County. Micah resigned in January of 1838, but later he frequently commanded volunteers in fights with Indians. He died in Fayette County in 1849 having never married. History failed to record his final resting place.
