VERMILION — Darlene S. Barnes (nee Kopas), 55, of Vermilion, died Thursday, April 1, 2010 at her home in Vermilion after a lengthy illness.
She was born March 18, 1955 in Lorain, grew up in Lorain and had been a Vermilion resident the past 26 years.
She was a graduate of Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science in education. She worked as a Graphic Artist for Nordson Corporation then worked out of her home. She also taught art for the Clearview School System. She enjoyed drawing, antiques and pets.
Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Richard "Rick" Barnes, Jr.; daughter, Meghan (Phillip) Clement of Findlay; grandson, Zachary Clement; brother, Dale (Barb) Kopas of New Jersey; and mother and father-in-law, Helen and Richard Barnes, Sr. of Vermilion.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Andrew and Josephine (nee Maddalun) Kopas.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. at Brownhelm Cemetery, North Ridge Road, Vermilion.
