Bernetta Lorraine Gilsdorf, 75, formerly of Kiel, died Tuesday morning, March 30, 2010 at Willowdale Nursing and Rehab Center, New Holstein.
She is the former Bernetta Rieth, born September 24, 1934 in the Town of New Holstein, daughter of the late Clemens and Barbara (Woelfel) Rieth. Bernetta attended St. Ann Catholic School and New Holstein High School.
On June 17, 1953 she married David A. Gilsdorf at St. Ann Catholic Church in St. Anna. He preceded her in death on April 6, 2000.
Bernetta took great pride in dedicating her life to being a wife, mother, grandmother and taking care of her family.
She was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel as well as the Catholic Knights and Christian Women.
In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband, embroidery, reading, cooking and gardening.
Survivors include her children, Karen (Warren) Vandoske of Elkhart Lake, Eugene (Mary) Gilsdorf of Elkhart Lake, Conrad (Judy) Gilsdorf of Kiel, Kenneth (Paula) Gilsdorf of Kiel, Christine (John) Kubichka of Chilton, Steven (Donna) Gilsdorf of Kiel, Michael (Lydia) Gilsdorf of Las Cruces, NM, Debra Gilsdorf of Manitowoc, Mary (Brian) Andreas of Madison, Michelle (James) Fleischman of New Holstein, Barry (Nissa) Gilsdorf of Kiel, Julie (Jamie) Feucht of Lomira, 26 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Peggy (Dave) Horn of St. Cloud, Lilly (Roger) Hansen of New Holstein, Evie (Al) Preissner of Pipe; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Gertie Rieth of Chilton, Fr. Gordon Gilsdorf of Little Suamico, Richard (Lucy) Gilsdorf of Sheboygan Falls, Fr. Daniel Gilsdorf, Sr. Marita Gilsdorf, both of Sherwood. Bernetta is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David; her parents; a son-in-law, Terry Schweitzer; a brother, Orville Rieth; sister-in-law, Jean Gilsdorf; mother- and father-in-law, Othmar and Mathilda (Gehl) Gilsdorf.
The funeral Mass for Bernetta will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel with the Rev. Loren Nys S.D.S. and Joe Zenk, Parish Director, officiating. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery.
