Ellie was born in Brighton ME and spent her early years there. She married first on Sept. 10 1898 in Haverhill MA to Thomas M. Butler Jr. By 1900 they were living in Skowhegan ME, where he was born. In 1910, Thomas purchased the first of several properties in Salem NH, so they moved to that town. The marriage did not last, however, and the couple divorced in 1191, when Thomas retired back to Maine.
Later that same year on Sept. 15 Ellie married Frank Scollay. The couple remained in Salem for the remainder of their lives. They had no children.
Ellie had only one sibling, a younger brother named Llewellyn E. Dyer, born about 1883. He died young.
