He was a native of Berlin, Germany. He was a retired manager for both the Louisville and Wildwood Country Clubs.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and sister; and a stepson, Steve Champlin.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 29 years, Clara Irmscher; a stepdaughter, Pam (Rob) Sparkman; grandchildren, Justin, Candice and Chase Champlin, Houston and Wyatt Sparkman; and many close family and friends.
His Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road, with entombment to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Friday.
