William Henry Simmers, 80, husband of Mrs.Maggie Ritchie Simmers, and a well known retired farmer, died at 3:05 Sunday, morning at his home two miles north of Harrisonburg on the Kratzer road after an extended Illness.
Mr.Simmers who retired from active work evelen years ago because of ill health became seriously ill since Christmas. Little hope had been held for his recovery in recent weeks.
A son of the late Noah and Katie Simmers. He was born on April 17, 1867 in the Lacey Spring Community where he lived unitl he was 17 years old. He later moved to Ohio and to Illinois where he made his home for a number of years. For the past seven years be had been making his home near Harrisonburg. Mr. Simmers was twice married, his first wife who was Miss Josephine Glovier of Lacey Springs,preceded him in death In 1924. His second wife who was Mrs.Maggie Ritchie, before marriage survives him. He was a member of the United Brethren Church.
