William E. Williams, 58, an executive vice president and director of the McLachlen National Bank, died Friday at Suburban Hospital after a short illness. He resided at 707 Delware St., Chevy Chase.
A lifelong resident of Montgomery County, Mr. Williams was born in Poolesville. His 30-year career with the McLachlen National Bank began in 1940 when he joined the bank as a teller in the collection department.
He also held the positions of bookkeeping manager and assistant vice president before being named an executive vice president in 1964.
Mr. Williams served in the Navy in 1942-46 and saw action in the Pacific while communications officer aboard the U.S.S. Wisconsin.
He was a member of the Washington Rotary Club, the Metropolitan Board of Trade and the Financial Public Relations Council of Greater Washington, and was past chairman of the Audit and Control Section of the D.C. Bankers' Association. He also belonged to All Saints Episcopal Church, where he served as a vestryman and treasurer.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Ann Perry; a son, W. Edward, Jr., and a daughter, Ann P., all of the home.
