W. R. Spurlin was born in the state of Arkansas, A. D. 1833, died at Brookhaven, Texas, with cancer of the stomach May 6th, 1899. His remains were followed by a large concourse of friends and relatives to the Sugar Loaf cemetery, where it was buried May 7th. Rev. Abbott officiated in the burial services in a tender and very affective manner. Truly it can be said Bro. Spurlin is resting in peace. He was a good neighbor, kind affectionate husband and father, a christian in deed and in truth. "Verily, verily I say unto you, he that heareth my word and believeth on Him that sent me, hath everlasting life and shall not come into condemnation, but is passed from death unto life."
