SANFORD — Margaret Comer Thomas, 85, of 3800 Lee Ave. Ext. died Tuesday (4/24/07) at her residence. She was born Jan. 3, 1922, daughter of the late Raymond Dewey Comer and Wilma Williams Comer. She was a member of Jonesboro United Methodist Church for 50 years. She was also a member of Jonesboro United Methodist Church Women, the Ruth Circle, the Amy Womble Sunday school class and the Quilting Ladies. She was a graduate of Cameron School. She was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Bernardo, and brothers Charles Comer and Russell Comer.
She is survived by her husband, Sam E. Thomas; sons Eddy Ray Thomas and wife Gail and Jimmy Edward Thomas, both of Sanford; a daughter, Margaret Ann Thomas and husband Mike of Sanford; brothers Roger Comer and wife Betty of Greensboro and Richard Comer of Cameron; grandchildren Sherry Jackson, Lisa Carranza, Mark Thomas, Suzanne Davison and Ashley Owens; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday at Jonesboro United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Banks and youth pastor Brian Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Cemetery.
