Son of Samuel and Anna Caney Cohen.

Herman, who resided at 1405 West Sixth Street, Wilmington, Delaware, served as a Sergeant with Company C, 22nd Infantry Regiment, Fourth Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He enlisted in the Army on February 20, 1941, prior to the war, in Trenton, New Jersey. He was noted as being employed as a Stock clerk and as being Single, without dependents.

He was "Killed In Action" in Normandy, France. He had served with the Army for three years and five months at the time of his death.

He was decorated with the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
