Harley M. Stringer, age 61, 405 East South street, city, passed away at 9:30 p.m. Thursday at the Daviess County Hospital. Cause of death was reported a heart attack. He was seriously ill for only a few minutes. Mr. Stringer was born in Daviess County, September 13, 1898, the son of the late Harvey and margaret (Stockenger) Stringer. June 26, 1920 he married the former Mayme Kays and she survives. He was a member of the American Legion Burch-Wood Post, Eagles, and the Moose. he was a veteran of World War I and had lived in this community all his life. he was employed at the local Post Office as a mail dispatcher. A foster daughter, Mrs. Olen (Dorothy) Jones, of this city and a grandson, Kenneth Lee Creceli.us, who the Stringers reared, survive. Two sisters, Sadie Ashby, of Bicknell, and Blance Misner, of North Vernon, and a brother Everett Stringer, of North Vernon, also survive. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the V.L. Poindexter Funeral Home with Dr. William R. Seat officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Bicknell, with the American Legion Burch-Wood Post holding military services. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7:00 p.m. Saturday for services and the Moose will meet at 8:00 p.m.
