Born April 13, 1890, in Boyd County, he was the son of William and Nancy Norris Barber.
He was a resident of Paintsville, a retired conductor for C & O Railway, a member of the First United Methodist church and a veteran of World War I.
Surviving are his wife, Etta Hackworth Barber, a son, Gene David Barber, Escondido,CA, a daughter, Mrs. Mary Hamburger, Bonn, Germany; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, April 2 at 1 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Graham Abbott officiating.
Burial will be in the Ashland Cemetery, Ashland, with Paintsville Funeral Home handling arrangements.
