Charles never married. He immigrated to the US from Italy about 1886 and established himself as a prominent businessman in the Coney Island/Northern New Jersey area. He became a millionaire but reportedly lost everything after the stock market crash of 1929.

Although he was born as Charles Winslow Abruscato, he wanted his name to sound more American and changed it to Charles A. Winslow.

On Charles' passport application the Berni Organ Company, Incorporated Builders and Importers
Mechanical Band Organs, 216 West 20th Street, New York City, New York requested that Charles' passport be approved so that they could "send Mr. Charles A. Winslow to France, Italy, Porto Rico, Cuba
and the Bahamas for the purpose of selling Mechanical Band Organs which we manufacture. " The letter was dated 29 Sep 1920 and was to the "Honorable Secretary of
State, Washington, DC" (info courtesy of Find a Grave contributor Junebug)
