Elizabeth's nickname was "Bobbie" because she was one of the first women in her area to cut or "bob" her hair. The nickname stuck. Bobbie was born to Alonzo Orlando Sanford and Elizabeth Dorothy "Libbie" Zeigler. She was the last of five children.

She married Wayne Johnson on 20 Apr 1935 in Memphis, and they had one son. They lived in West Memphis, Arkansas for many years.

She served as an LPN at the old TB hospital in Memphis. She wanted to serve there because two of her own aunts (Loretta Sanford Heidel and Cherokee Sanford Kerr) had both died of TB.

She had a wonderful sense of humor and always saw the good in everything.

Her sister, Lorena Grace Sanford Wallace Werkhoven, was my Grandmother.
