ELYRIA - Jack C. Pigman Sr., 85, of Elyria passed away unexpectedly Thursday March 4, 2010 in Port Charlotte, Fla.
He was born January 12, 1925 in Elyria. Jack served in the U.S. Navy and was assigned to the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt.
He was an Electrician at the Lorain Steel plant for 41 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and Holy Name Society in Elyria, a life member of V.F.W. Post 1079, Lorain County Wood Carvers, Lorain County Coon Hunters, 8 Ball Archery Club, Lorain County Beagle Club, a charter member of Magee Marsh in Port Clinton, Jolly Sixties, Lorain County Duck Hunters Assoc. for 50 years, Antique Car Club, and was a regular blood donor.
Survivors include his sons; Jack Jr. of Elyria, Tom of Arizona, a sister; Barbara Ward (the late Eugene) of Norwalk, (4) brothers; Oren (Rita), Gary (Bonnie), Pat ( Millie) all of Norwalk, and Don (Debbie) of Friday Island, Wash. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; Becky Ayers (Ken) of North Ridgeville, Kelly Calabrese (Matt) of Vermilion, Jack Pigman III of Elyria, Alex Pigman of Lorain, Scott Pigman of Calif., Jessica Pigman of Alabama, Tom Pigman of Williard, and (12) great grandchildren. He is also survived by his constant companion; Dee Krusz.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years; Roma, (3) sons; Chester, Harry, Richard, a sister; Shirley Vaughn and his parents; Oren and Loretta (nee: Blinzley) Pigman.
Friends may call 7-8:30 PM today at The Bauer-Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road (at SR 57) Elyria; (440)322-4626. Memorial Mass 9 AM Friday March 26, 2010 at St. Agnes Church 611 Lake Ave. Elyria, OH Rev. Fr. Albert A. Krupp will be the Celebrant. Burial will be private at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
