Daniel F. Bergen, 68, of Louisa passed away Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, at his residence.
He was a retired lieutenant colonel in the United States Marine Corps with 22 years of dedicated service. He was a graduate of University of Notre Dame, class of 1958. He was also a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Elanor (Hannafin) Bergen; three sons, Dan, Tim and Peter Bergen; three daughters, Maureen Varnon, Kristen Aschenbrenner and Tara Carlson; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph and Kevin Bergen; two sisters, Anselma Beckwith and Peggy McHale; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at St. Jude Catholic Church in Mineral, Sunday, Jan. 2, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., with the holy rosary to be said at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Monday, Jan. 3, at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial with military honors will follow the service in the church cemetery.
