PASCHAL BROOKS WILLIAMS

Centerville. March 7 - Brooks Williams, born at Clarksburg, W. Va., June 7, 1854, died at his home here March 5, after a three days' illness.

He was the fifth of thirteen children born to Peter B. and Sarah Williams. He crossed the Alleghany Mountains in the summer of 1879, and married Henrietta Craun, Aug. 5, 1881.

There were born to this union eight children, six sons and two daughters. Those who survive are Miley C. of Mt. Sidney: Guy W., of Staunton: Erwin B., Naperville. Ill.: Mervin B., of Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Pearle Bosserman, of Mt. Sidney; Mrs. Maude Redner, of Bridgewater, and Luther M., of Detroit.

He is survived by twenty-six grandchildren: also by three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Belle Hartleben, of Parkersburg, W. Va., Mrs. Alice Woddell, of Greenbank, W. Va.; Mrs. Eva D. Brown, of Akron, O., and Boyd M., of Buckhannon, W, Va.

The body was burled at Summit Church of the Brethren, March 8. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. John T, Glick.

All of his children, and one sister, Mrs. Eva D. Brown, attended the funeral.

Mr. Williams spent about forty-eight years in the northern part of Augusta County, near Bridgewater. He loved to tell stories of his childhood; of how he sang for the soldiers in camp during the. War Between the States, and of, having Abraham, when riding upon a train, in place his hand on his head when he (Lincoln) was running for president. Mr. Williams was widely known, loved, respected, and will be missed.
