William Tripp, Captain, appointed October 21, 1862, was born in Maine in 1819. Was an older half brother of Bartlett Tripp. One of the earliest settlers of Yankton. After muster put of the company he practiced law in Yankton and was an esteemed member of the Yankton Bar. He died in March 1878.
