Wilma Louise Freehling, 79, of Baroda, went to be with her Lord on Monday, May 12, 2008 at Jordan's Nursing Home, Bridgman, following a long battle with Parkinson's disease.

Wilma was born September 11, 1928 to Rheinhold and Hattie (Skala) Backus at the Skala home farm in Baroda. On July 13, 1946 she married Harold George Freehling, Sr., in Glendora. Together with her husband, Wilma worked on their family dairy farm. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glendora. Wilma was devoted to her family and friends and always helped strangers and those less fortunate. She was a loving mother and grandmother, an excellent cook, loved growing and sharing her flowers, and always put others' needs before her own.

Survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Harold G. Freehling, Sr.; three sons – Harold (Janet) Freehling, Jr. of Norwalk, Ohio, Melvin (Laura) Freehling and David (Linda) Freehling all of Baroda; a son-in-law, Grant Nash of Benton Harbor; ten grandchildren – Wendy Hoffman, Joel (Paula) Freehling, Bret Freehling, Melissa McAllister, Shawn (Tammi) Freehling, Heather Freehling, Patrick (Teri) Freehling, Timothy Freehling, Rebecca (Jeffrey) Gowan, and Aaron Nash; six great grandchildren – Brooke Hoffman, Aidan McAllister, Marissa Freehling, Kayla, Jade, and Andrew Gowan; four brothers – Arnold (Ann) Backus, Paul( Betty) Backus, and Warren (Sandy) Backus all of Buchanan, and Harold (Nancy) Backus of Berrien Springs; four sisters – Barbara (Lester) Sebasty of Buchanan, Charlotte Schmaltz and Bonnie (Richard) Weich all of Baroda, and Carol (Maurice) McMichael of Lansing; and many dear nieces and nephews.

her son, Marvin Freehling in 1949; her daughter, Beverly Nash in 2004; three sisters – Alice Backus in 1926, Sherley Backus in 1937, and Elaine Bell in 1962; and her parents.
